Build Your World is a hypothetical pop-up installation concept designed for LEGO, aimed at transforming a mall retail space into an interactive community experience. The project combines spatial design, kiosk stations, and augmented reality into a single cohesive environment where visitors don't just browse products, they participate.
The installation centres around a large open play area flanked by four building pods on either side. Each pod contains bins of LEGO bricks, and groups of visitors, friends, families, anyone, can grab a handful, settle into a pod, share stories and memories, and build something together. Their creations are then placed on a central blank canvas in the middle of the space, forming a growing, collaborative LEGO world built by the community throughout the day.
A life-size kiosk stands at the entrance with an iPad installation that serves two purposes: introducing visitors to LEGO's product range and diversification, and letting them scan a QR code to view the central canvas in augmented reality. The LEGO world visitors built together comes alive on screen, viewable from any angle, turning a physical creation into a shared digital experience.
The concept was designed to target a diverse demographic across age groups, highlighting how LEGO fosters community, shared experiences, and the joy of creating something personal with your own hands.
The kiosk was designed as the entry point to the experience, housing product information and the AR scanning station.
Visitors scan a QR code at the kiosk to see the collaboratively built LEGO canvas come alive in AR on their devices, turning a physical creation into a shared digital experience.
