Unbox Yourself is an augmented reality artwork built on the pillars of subjectivity and the uniqueness of each individual. Ideas, memories, heritage, lifestyle and more, key your world, in a box that only words alone can never explain. This project is an attempt to blend storytelling, participation, and community building into one interactive experience.
The artwork presents a viewer standing outside a three-faced box, unaware of the stories and backgrounds of its creator, yet slightly exposed to them bleeding through the box. Using AR, viewers can either rotate the artwork to reveal the insides, or physically walk past the walls and engage with the elements within. Each element is brainstormed around culture as the central word, branching into categories like heritage, lifestyle, hobbies, adventures, and food.
Elements of the artwork were brainstormed with culture as the central word, branching into heritage, lifestyle, hobbies, adventures, food, and more. Colour theory principles guided the visual coding of each memory type.
